About Us

Here at World Snax we’re passionate about two things: Travel and Food. Exploring the world is about trying new things and with cultures all over the planet expressing their unique tastes through food, we decided to put together a collection of popular or quintessential international snacks.

A Taste for Travel

A hunger for travel was instilled in World Snax founder CJ Greene at an early age. Living in Canada with a British mother, trips were made every so often back to England. There CJ was introduced to a variety of foods she’d never experienced before: Cornish Pasties, Lamb, Yorkshire Pudding, and snacks like Polo Mints and Jaffa Cakes, always stocking up on snack foods to bring home and ration over the following years until she could return. (Okay, let’s be honest. The snacks lasted a month if she was lucky.)

More places were crossed off of CJ’s “To Go” list as she got older: France, Italy, Trinidad & Tobago and India. At the age of 24 CJ joined the crew of a cruise ship and worked around the world, bringing her country count to over thirty. And everywhere she went she collected international snacks.

Edible Nostalgia

Memories are one of the most precious things we carry. Travelling provides us with an extensive collection of memories to reminisce on. There are many triggers to memories: photographs and journal entries are an obvious example, but there are others as well. Supertramp’s The Logical Song transports CJ right back to an amusement park in Cornwall, England, or driving around Camborne, Cornwall with her uncle. The smell of sandalwood brings flashbacks of long, dusty bus rides through villages in southern India. And the taste of black beans finds us right back in a little local restaurant called Gugas in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

The late, great Anthony Bourdain has been quoted as saying,

“Food is everything we are. It’s an extension of nationalist feeling, ethnic feeling, your personal history, your province, your region, your tribe, your grandma. It’s inseparable from those from the get-go.”

Find Old and New Favourites

International products are becoming more and more accessible every day. Supermarkets are carrying international snacks and the internet has so many resources at your disposal.

We wanted to create a one-stop-shop to discover popular local snack foods from various countries around the world; somewhere you can discover old favourites connected to memories of hiking through Patagonia or learn about foods from places you’ve not yet been.

So stay awhile. Browse the site. Check out the collections of international snacks that we have. If you have a country or a particular snack food you want to see on a list, let us know through comments or our contact form on the home page.

Take a look around. We hope you find something that brings back a pleasant memory or piques your curiosity and sense of adventure!

      Thank you so much!

We are in our very beginning stages so no YouTube channel at the time and no plans for one. A quality YouTube channel takes a great deal of time and effort that we don’t currently have the means to support, and we’d like to make sure we are putting out quality content if we decide to go that route. However, should circumstances change in the future, it would be something we’d consider.

      Have a wonderful day!
